Yakima County Search & Rescue K-9

Team Mission Statement

To provide well trained competent K-9 resource assistance to the Yakima County Sheriff Search and Rescue program and other counties in need of additional K-9 resources within Washington and bordering states if requested, in accordance with WAC requirements 118-04-120 for search and rescue emergency volunteers.

The Yakima County Sheriff Search and Rescue K-9 Team provides education to the public on various aspects of search dog training, their disciplines in search work as well as what to do if you or someone you know becomes lost in the wilderness or urban settings.

Our PR events also foster a chance for the general public to watch demonstrations of the dogs at work conducting short field problems and we also (of course) allow for questions and a few pats for the dogs!

If you are interested in scheduling a PR event, please contact K-9 handler; Teana via the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office @

(509) 574-2535.

The Yakima County Search and Rescue K9 Team is a group of volunteers who devote their time and energy training and maintaining their skills for mission ready status.

The responsibility involved with joining the team as a Dog Handler is much much more than that of a pet owner.
